Our Story

Sometimes Accidents turn into the Best Ideas…

After years of back and forth sharing of newly found snacks you can purchase at gas stations, grocery stores, drug stores, membership houses, and online, 6 people jokingly decided to create a Snack Patrol, and introduce it to the world. The idea of creating a snack army that one day may have enough members to occupy a tree house was what we were thinking. We had no idea that after only 2 months, there would be 1000 members and counting…

Is it possible that there are more people like us than we thought? It seems so! We are here for the love of snacking, which is a term that covers any sort of comfort food. We have one rule that we live by, and that is, “Don’t be a Richard.” Unless your name is actually Richard. If it is, we love the name Richard. We love Richard!

We created our webpage to expand the love of snacking and give others the opportunity to try some hard-to-find snacks we have discovered and purchase Universal Snack Patrol swag!
Above all, this little hobby of snacking has evolved into a community we are thankful for having every day!

From the bottom of our hearts and stomachs, Thank you, Snack Patrol Army!

Ted Vedalla, Co-Owner of Shakespeare's Pub in downtown Kalamazoo, MI, Creator of Dad Joke Genius, & author of "The Trophy Husband". Resides in Portage, MI with his wife & has 2 sons who he's very close to. The thrill of finding new snacks on a midnight grocery/ party store run is a regular event, & sharing those find with Tara Watkins (the !st Lady of the USP) was something I've done for years prior to our group's creation. Accepting that not all of my opinions are fact in the snack world, I'll die on the hill that Pop Tarts should be toasted or eaten straight out the package, rather than microwaved, & Reese's Pieces are superior to Peanut Butter M&ms in every way!

Hello Snackers, Tara here! Fun loving mom of two who loves everything about snacks! When I'm not hunting down the latest & greatest of sweet & salty treats, I'm hanging with my fam, enjoying life! We love camping, going to the movies, road trips, & water parks. They of course share my love for the snacks, which makes it even more fun. Favorite snack: Chios & some kind of dip. Oh, I can also be found occasionally out-n-about enjoying a beer & sharing a snack with friends, so if you ever catch me, say "Hi!"

What's up, Snack Army! I'm Clay Haggard, a Kalamazoo native that happens to Co-Own & Host the best self-proclaimed sports podcast in the world, Proficient Fans (available to listen to & follow on all major streaming platforms-end plug:) with my fellow snack brethren, CB. I love being on the golf course & have traveled to play some of the best courses in the country. You can also find me catching the latest blockbuster movie in theaters, which of course, I enjoy with a bucket of popcorn! I can't help myself when I lay my eyes on a limited edition snack or beverage...I have to try them all! It's my duty! I'm just a simple Left Twix searching for his Right Twix in this concession stand of life. So, bring something that's sweet, salty, or savory & let's share a snack & a story soon!

Clay

I was born an Oatmeal Cream Pie: half whitebread-half tortilla. 3 kids, wife, house, dog, & many snacks later...here we are! I enjoy the thrill of the hunt for a new snack; finding it's location & the trophy of obtaining it (although I rarely leave any witnesses). If I'm not at the theatre sneaking in some Haribo peaches, I'm chillin' at One Well Brewing, enjoying a delicious pint. Stay Fresh Cheese Bags -los

CB, yes thee "Dammit, CB!" who is lucky enough to be the husband to the 1st Lady of Snacks, Tara Watkins. Father of 2 boys, & Co-Host of the sports podcast Proficient Fans along with fellow snacker, Clay. Currently in Kalamazoo, MI by way of Burlington, MI. I have always been a snacker, but ever since Universal Snack Patrol, the snacking game has "Hulked" out, trying things that I probably would've never tried due to being a creature of habit, but let's be honest...you can never go wrong snacking on Cool Ranch Doritos. I got involved in the hunt for tasty snacks because of Tara & Ted not finding certain items that they'd message each other about on Facebook, & it somehow turned into my goal to be the conquering hero in finding where these elusive snacks could be acquired or when the official drop date would be. To be honest, the tasting of treats is fun, however the hunt...the hunt is the real prize! Dammit CB Out!
